Fortunately, there are effective evaluation and treatment options available, and May-Grant OB/GYN is here to help.

Understanding Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual dysfunction refers to a range of difficulties that can interfere with a woman’s ability to experience sexual satisfaction. It can manifest in various ways, including:

  1. Low Libido: A decreased interest in sexual activity.
  2. Pain During Intercourse: Discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse.
  3. Difficulty Achieving Orgasm: Challenges in reaching sexual climax.
  4. Arousal Disorders: Difficulty becoming physically aroused during sexual activity.

These issues can have a significant impact on your overall quality of life and your intimate relationships. It’s essential to address them with care and seek professional help when needed.

Causes of Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual dysfunction can have a range of underlying causes, and it’s not always easy to pinpoint a single factor. Some common contributors include:

  • Physical Factors: These can include medical conditions such as diabetes, hormonal imbalances, and chronic illnesses.
  • Psychological Factors: Stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems can all play a role in sexual dysfunction.
  • Medications: Certain medications can affect sexual desire and function as a side effect.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and a sedentary lifestyle can contribute to sexual health issues.
